Q. How does Prairie Harvest ship
perishable products?
A. Items are shipped frozen
packed with gel ice packs in a double-strength corrugated shipping container
lined with foam. A foam lid is placed on top along with our latest product list. Every order is hand-packed for a safe journey in the
insulated container with an appropriate number of gel ice packs and/or dry ice.
Q. How soon can I expect my order to arrive?
A. All perishable items are shipped via Federal Express on Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday for Overnight or 2nd Day delivery. If an order is placed before noon MST, it will be shipped the same day. If you place your order on Friday, it will be shipped on Monday. We will send you an email with tracking information, once your order has been shipped.
Q. Do I need to sign for my package?
A. Since all of our high quality products are perishable and we can not risk them sitting at a courier facility overnight, all orders are delivered without requiring a signature. Sometimes it is best to have your order delivered to your workplace to ensure safe arrival and immediate placement in a cool place or refrigerator.
Q. What should I do with my
order after it arrives?
A. To ensure your satisfaction,
please follow these guidelines upon receipt of your order:
Unpack immediately. Most of our items are
packed frozen, so your order should be unpacked immediately after the
order arrives. Don't be alarmed if the product shows evidence of slight thawing or if the ice packs have begun to thaw. As long as the product feels refrigerator cold to touch, there is no loss in quality. The product can be placed into the refrigerator to thaw or place
them in your freezer for use at a later date.
Q. I don't think my order
arrived in good condition...what should I do?
A. If the package is damaged or
torn, please bring it to the attention of the Federal Express delivery person
immediately. If the box was signed for and it was properly stored upon
receipt, the items should not be diminished. Each item you have ordered
is shipped frozen with a proper number of gel ices packs or is
shelf-stable and does not require chilling or refrigeration.
If you
believe a problem still exists with a product, please e-mail our customer help
desk at info@prairieharvest.com
Q. How do I know how much meat
to order for each person I plan to serve?
A. The following portion sizes can
be used as a guideline:
A 4-6
oz. serving is suitable for for those with small appetites or for a light
lunch, breakfast accompaniment or appetizer portion per person.
A 6-8
oz. serving is suitable for for those with average appetites per
person.
A 8-12
oz. serving is suitable for for those with large or hearty appetites per
person.
Q. What method is best to
defrost frozen meat or poultry?
A. Meat, fish & fowl are best
non-nuked (microwave defrosted).
Q. Help! I've never cooked
______________ (insert any product you ordered in the blank)...how should I
prepare it?
A. We know you may be venturing
into uncharted cooking territory. Think of this as an adventure for your
taste buds! Happily, most of the products we feature benefit from easy,
simple cooking methods.
